A thousand grains of sand…
Those words best describe what my father has been for me – every day before school when the small lessons and words of encouragement were spoken; the time spent each morning dressing my brothers and me and the walks to the bus stop; to being present at every soccer game, track meet, and band concert. He was actively present.
A thousand grains of sand…
Those words best describe what my father has been for me – waking up with me at 6:00 am each morning to help me train for my first race; bring me flowers on a random weekday; dancing together at weddings knowing we both lack rhythm. He has always found a way to build my confidence in the quiet moments.
A thousand grains of sand…
Those words best describe who my father is – a devoted father of three; a loving husband for 40+ years; the clear explanation of my personality when my friends meet him. He has been the perfect role model for being myself.
These, plus a thousand more, are the minor, seemingly insignificant moments that by themselves lack impact but when added together continue to build the beautiful beach that is me.
